It was during my tenure with Slim Jim and the Phatts that I developed my DJ'ing skills. In between breaks with the Phatts band the traditional sound guy music would switch on and the dance floor would empty straight away.



I purchased a DJ controller, built up my song library and starting playing songs in between sets with the band. It took some time, but in the end I developed an understanding of the right songs to fill a dance floor and the different genres I needed to cover to suit the variety of age groups at the different gigs.



It was great for the band to return from a break to a full dance floor.
